Exact copies
The same file imported twice, saved twice, synced twice. Removing these is free, without limits.
Duplicate & similar photo cleaner for iPhone, iPad and Mac
Duplicate Photos finds exact copies, near-duplicates, bursts and re-saved copies, shows you which shot is best — and why — and clears the rest safely.
Free to scan · One purchase for iPhone, iPad and Mac
Basic duplicate finders only see files that are byte-for-byte the same. Most of the clutter in a real library isn't.
The same file imported twice, saved twice, synced twice. Removing these is free, without limits.
The rapid-fire frames you never sorted. One of them is the keeper; the rest just take space.
Three takes of the same pose, a second apart. Grouped by what the photo shows, not by the file.
The photo a messenger saved back at half the resolution, next to the original you already had.
An edit and its original living side by side as two separate photos.
Frames with nothing in them — a lens in a pocket, a finger over the camera. Listed separately, never marked for you.
iPhone · iPad · Mac
Same engine, same picks, same safety rails — with a review built for each device. Buy the unlock once and it's unlocked on all three.
One hand, one group at a time. The best shot large, the burst underneath, one tap to keep it and mark the rest.
Your queue on one side, the group on the other. Touch, or a keyboard when one is attached. Scans keep going in the background.
The whole library from the keyboard. Compare side by side, zoom in full screen, open any photo in Photos.
Requires iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or macOS 15 or later.
Best Shot
Every group is ranked by what can actually be measured: sharpness, motion blur and soft focus, exposure and blown highlights, noise, framing, and the faces in it — who's facing the camera, whose expression is better.
The pick comes with its reasons and their numbers. “Better exposed” alone is an opinion. “Sharper — 71 vs 44” is something you can check.
Honest numbers
Open any photo to see everything measured about it, in two clearly separate parts: how it compares to the other shots in its group — tied, ahead, well ahead — and what's true of the photo on its own, like resolution and blown highlights.
There's no “87% quality” badge, because no honest measurement produces one. You get the rank within the group, and the evidence behind it.
On iPhone
The best shot is already picked, so the fast path is one tap — Keep 1, mark 7 — or one swipe to the next group. When you want a closer look, it's all gestures you already know from Photos.
On Mac and iPad
The whole review runs on the keyboard — on the Mac, and on an iPad with a keyboard attached. Arrows to move, a number to keep that shot, Return to clear the rest, S to skip. Compare side by side and look at any photo full size.
On iPhone and iPad
A whole library takes a while, so you don't have to watch. Switch to another app and the scan carries on; on iOS and iPadOS 26 the system shows its progress for you. Groups appear while it runs, and you can open any of them before it's done.
What's been analyzed is kept, so the next scan only looks at what's new.

Safe by design
Nothing is marked for removal until you mark it. Before anything goes you see exactly what is kept and what is removed, group by group — then macOS or iOS asks you to confirm.
Removed photos stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days.
Give it access to your Photos library and pick how strict “similar” should be. The scan runs entirely on your device.
Go group by group. The best shot is already picked and explained — agree with one tap or key, or pick another.
Check the summary, confirm, and get the space back. Change your mind within 30 days in Recently Deleted.
Every photo is analyzed on the device it's on. On the Mac the app ships without network access — it can't send anything. On iPhone and iPad it makes no network connections of its own.
Every photo is analyzed locally, with Apple's own frameworks.
No servers of ours, nothing sent anywhere. On the Mac, no network permission at all.
No sign-up, no login. Purchases go through Apple.
That's the App Store privacy label, and it's the whole story.
Most photo cleaners now charge every year. This one is a single purchase — for your iPhone, your iPad and your Mac — and it never needed the internet to begin with.

Duplicate Photos: Best Shot is an iPhone, iPad and Mac app that finds duplicate and similar photos in the Apple Photos library, recommends the best shot in each group with measured reasons, and moves the rest to Recently Deleted.
No. All analysis happens on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. The Mac app has no network access at all, and the iPhone and iPad app makes no network connections of its own. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.

No. Full Unlock is bought once and works on your iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in with the same Apple Account. Family Sharing is supported too.
It measures each photo against the others in its group — sharpness, motion blur and soft focus, exposure, noise, framing, and faces (facing the camera, expression) — and ranks them. The top pick shows its reasons with their numbers. You can always pick a different one.
The Duplicates album in Photos finds copies of the same picture — identical files, or the same image at another resolution or with different metadata — and merges them. It doesn't group bursts or several takes of the same moment, and it doesn't tell you which shot is better. Duplicate Photos: Best Shot finds both kinds, ranks every group by measured quality and explains its pick.
Never. Nothing is marked until you mark it, you see a summary before anything is removed, and macOS or iOS asks you to confirm.
Yes. Removed photos go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app and stay there for 30 days.
Yes, on iPhone and iPad it carries on in the background, and on iOS and iPadOS 26 the system shows its progress. If it's interrupted, what was already analyzed is kept, so the next scan only looks at what's left.
